Standard Automotive Bearing Installation Process: 90% of Premature Failures Are Caused by Wrong Installation
Many people are confused: new bearings are genuine, but why do they make noise or overheat within a few thousand kilometers?
The harsh truth:
If installed incorrectly, even the best bearings suffer immediate internal damage.

This article provides a step-by-step standard installation process you can follow directly.

1. Pre-installation inspection

  • Verify model, size, seal, and clearance match
  • Clean shaft and housing bores; remove burrs and rust
  • Check bearings for bumps, deformation, or seal damage

2. Strictly prohibit rough handling

  • Do not strike the inner or outer ring directly
  • Do not hammer violently; use special mounting sleeves and dies
  • Apply pressure only on the loaded ring

3. Correct installation methods

  1. Cold pressing: small size, light load; use a press for even installation
  2. Hot mounting: large interference, precision bearings; induction heating to 80–120°C for expansion fitting
  3. Never oil-boil or open-flame heat: causes annealing, reduces hardness, and damages grease

4. Post-installation inspection

  • Rotates smoothly, no sticking or abnormal noise
  • Normal axial and radial clearance
  • Seal correctly positioned, no twisting or damage

5. Summary of forbidden actions

  • Assembly in unclean environment = direct dust contamination
  • Eccentric pressing = immediate raceway indentation
  • Too much / too little torque = overheating or looseness
  • Use of unqualified washers and lock nuts

Remember:
Standard installation allows bearings to reach their designed life.
One wrong step cuts life in half.
